Generational Gyration
This game was created for The Very Serious Juniper Dev Game Jam.
Gyra had attempted to escape extraterrestrial captivity, yet has been successfully, albeit provisionally, contained once more.
But no matter what they will attempt to do,
For the sake of her bloodline,
She must keep on spinning.
Note: The music and sounds are a bit buggy, I'd suggest setting the volumes a bit low
Controls:
- WASD to move in cardinal directions (arrow keys work too)
- Hold SPACE to spin, for as long as your stamina lasts
- P to pause (then P again to resume, R to restart, or Q to quit to the main menu)
- Left click on the buttons that you are prompted to click
Gameplay:
- Spin into enemies with enough velocity (indicated by Gyra's Gale), which kills them and replenishes stamina.
- Avoid coming in contact with any lasers. Some will slide into view when you least expect it.
- Aim for a high combo by killing as many enemies as possible in a single uninterrupted spin.
- Enemies and moving lasers tend to spawn in bigger numbers as time progresses.
- There are three types of enemies: Default, Faster which move at x1.5 speed, and Tough which take two hits but are slower.
My tips & tricks (I spent so much time testing the game that I have a skewed perception of how difficult it may be for newcomers):
- Triggering Gyra's Gale doesn't happen THAT late, but I recommend having a bit of distance from the first few enemies you want to crash into.
- Your speed scales with your combo, so that you get to hit enemies much faster (Gyra FEELS the thirst for vengeance). At that point, you can hold the direction where the horde of enemies is and keep bonking into them over and over and over.
- However, your knockback scales with your speed. Since you always bounce off of enemies and you may get jolted by Moving Lasers, I'd recommend setting the Cam Zoom to the lowest (60%), as well as staying near the middle of the map, not too close to any of the laser walls.
- Once you hold SPACE, do NOT let go of SPACE. Gyra must keep spinning to uphold her combo.
- I hope a combo of 50 is manageable, my current highest is 350

This is super cute(serious), loved the bounciness of bouncing off of enemies felt a little too slippery but was still fun.
Love the slippery, bounciness of the control and movement. Really gives that cartoon tornado combat gameplay feel. Definitely also felt the learning curve of how to keep bouncing into them. Solid game!
THIS IS SO FUN! I really like it!
